Xbox, EY, and Blockchain Come Together For Devs

  • Microsoft's Xbox and consulting firm EY (Ernst and Young) are using blockchain to streamline Dev royalties.

  • The two companies worked together to streamline Microsoft Xbox manual processes to cut down on cost and operational hours.

  • Automating the legacy systems with blockchain allows for increased transparency and privacy while streamlining and reducing the lag between loyalty payments to game publishers.

  • The new streamlined process has successfully reduced the access wait time for royalties from 45 days to just 4 minutes. Wow!

"By implementing a blockchain-based network and streamlined royalty processing, game publishers and Xbox benefit from a more trusted, transparent and connected system from contract creation through to royalty settlements."

Luke Fewel, General Manager, Global Finance Operations at Microsoft.

This is the kind of integration that really puts the cream in my coffee. A blockchain-based solution that makes fewer headaches for developers. No risky tokens to buy, just a better way to build. IMO this is Xbox leading the way as the charge of Web2 companies try to find their place in Web3.

Reddit Avatars Make A Splash

In July Reddit unveiled its Reddit Collectible Avatars, NFT's on the Polygon blockchain. Since then they've been acquired by over 2.8 Million users. These collectibles entitle the holder to things like special post treatment, and customizable wearables.

The original 31 special-edition series (already sold out) are sold through the Collectible Avatars Shop, purchasable in USD, and maintained in Reddit Vault Polygon Wallets.

Reddit Collectible Avatars are the first of what is likely to be many collections aiming to bring more functionality and ownership to the user of major social media platforms. And with the r/gaming subreddit alone having over 34 million members, these avatars could be the gateway drug that brings a new audience of gamers to Web3.

Personally, I love these avatars, they're gamified and simple, which is the perfect balance that these kinds of Web3 Integrations need to get off the ground. I might have to go shopping later ;).
