Otherside Introduces A 2D Strategy Game

Yuga Labs continues to build its gaming universe. This time, it's a collection-based 2D strategy game called Legends of Mara.

What we know

  • The game picks up from where the events of the second trip by Otherside Meta left off.

  • Players will learn about the Kodas, including their origins and primal relationship with Otherside.

  • To play the game, players would need at least one Otherdeed (the land NFT), a Koda and/or an apprentice Mara.

  • Each Otherdeed holder can claim one Vessel NFT with one of three different functions farming, hunting and enchanting randomly assigned. This Vessel NFT can evolve into Mara.

  • Apecoin would power the game.

Love 'em or hate 'em, Yuga knows how to build an ecosystem.

Ticketmaster Rolls Out Token-gated Ticket Sales

Ticketmaster has rolled out token-gated ticket sales.

And it's a big deal.

How it works

Artists can directly reward holders of a specific NFT with access to everything from special presales and prime seats to exclusive concert experiences or custom travel packages.

In the case of a concert, if you hold an artist's NFT, you get prioritized access to purchase tickets, seat selection and best prices. Say bye-bye to scalping, bots and waiting only to find all tickets are gone.

Now you may be thinking this is a future thing. Nah, this is out already.

Ticketmaster partnered with heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold on their upcoming tour. And almost 20% of Avenged Sevenfold's fan club @DeathbatsClub bought tickets using wallet integration.

Why this matters

Wallets, wallets, wallets...

The use of wallets involves a change in behaviour — one of the things humans avoid.

That's where exclusive perks to token holders like what Avenged Sevenfold offered holders come in. It will drive non-web3 initiated fans to get a wallet to purchase the NFT just for the perks. Hopefully, it drives Reddit-level curiosity about NFTs.

Right now, it's music artists, but this can be for sports teams, comedians, and live events in general.

Lootbringer's take

The marriage of NFTs and ticket presales is an obvious but important win for NFT adoption and the live event industry. 🤔 could game studios have fan NFTs?
