Tearing Spaces Closed Beta Announced

Did you hear the news?

Tearing Spaces, the massively hyped web3 game, has announced the launch of its feature-loaded closed beta.

And it's got an exciting marketing strategy to attract players and drive engagement for their beta.

Let's break it down

  • They are attracting players with an NFT pass called Celestial Arsenal Pass. NFTs as access passes are nothing new, but this one's got a twist.

  • The Celestial Arsenal Pass acts as a reward for engagement activities like events and giveaways on Tearing Spaces' social media. Current holders of the Celestial avatars get a free pass.

  • And the Celestial Arsenal Pass becomes a scorecard in-game that players can use to earn points during special events and battles.

  • The passes are ranked at the end of the closed beta. The higher the points earned in a pass, the more powerful the weapon boxes that the player can win.

So why is this marketing strategy a great move for Tearing Spaces?

  • It rewards players who hold Celestial avatars, creating a sense of exclusivity and appreciation for early adopters.

  • By making the Celestial Arsenal Pass a central feature of the closed beta, Tearing Spaces is encouraging engagement and competition among players.

  • The promise of more powerful weapon boxes gives players a tangible goal to strive for, keeping them engaged and motivated.

  • By offering chances to win a Celestial Arsenal Pass through events and giveaways on social media, Tearing Spaces is expanding its reach and building buzz around the game.

Polygon UAW Surging

It's no secret that Polygon has been on a tear lately. Now they got another "one more thing" moment.

In March, Polygon saw an impressive surge in user activity, reaching 138,081 unique active wallets (UAWs) engaging with games on its platform. This marks a 53% increase from February, knocking down Hive and securing Polygon's position as the second-largest gaming blockchain. 🤯

Why the surge?

Well, the biggest contributor to the party...

💥Boomland: Hunters On-Chain

BoomLand's Hunters On-Chain game played a significant role in Polygon's user activity boom. According to DappRadar data, the game has seen a staggering 17,000% increase in UAWs over the past 30 days.

Other worthy note

🎮 Despite a 3.33% decline in total on-chain gaming activity in March, games still constitute 45.6% of the DApp industry activity in Q1 2023.

Solana Introduces State Compression

You know the kid who got his a** kicked in high school and returned after the holidays ripped?

That's Solana right now!

What are they up to?

They have been cooking a new tech that game developers would love. It's called state compression.

What is state compression?

Solana's definition: It's the method of creating a "fingerprint" (or hash) of off-chain data and storing this fingerprint on-chain for secure verification. Effectively using the security of the Solana ledger to securely validate off-chain data, verifying it has not been tampered with.

In simple words, the tech "compresses" off-chain data into a hash stored on-chain, enabling NFTs to be stored on-chain at a low cost.

Why this matters

So far, we have been dealing with minting 10,000 or so NFTs, and the costs, excluding the cost of the NFT, can be eye-watering. These costs grow to astronomical amounts for games since games need more NFTs for in-game assets, and gamers won't tolerate eating gas fees for long.

With state compression, NFTs are compressed before getting stored on-chain dropping minting costs significantly.

Look at this table provided by Solana on the costs to mint NFTs as of April 5, 2023.

Funded Gems

  • RACA, a Web3 gaming ecosystem, raised $30 million for an expansion, $16 million of which came from DWF Labs.

  • LayerZero, a cross-chain interoperability protocol, raised $120 million in its Series B round, securing the largest raise of the group by far and acquiring a $3 billion valuation. They have previously stated they have their eyes on the Web3 gaming industry.
