Sui Mainnet Goes Live

The blockchain by Mysten Labs (the phoenix that rose out of Meta’s Diem ashes), Sui, has launched its mainnet.

What is Sui? It’s a Layer-1 protocol that stores data as customizable objects instead of accounts, making it easier to manage things like digital assets. Smart contracts create the objects, while the attributes and objects are saved directly onto the blockchain itself.

Sui touts itself as a low-fee even when demand spikes, developer and user-friendly chain, and they seem to be pushing hard on gaming with several partnerships.

Check out this tweet of Mysten Labs shilling games on Sui.

Some games working with Sui

  • Abyss World, an open-world dark fantasy action RPG built by MetagameHQ.

  • Overworld, a cross-platform multiplayer RPG with just beautiful art.

  • Stella Fantasy, another action RPG where you can gather, craft and fight in an anime-inspired world.

Lootbringer’s take

If all the promises stick and the games play as good as they look, things could get really interesting on the network. On a side note, they have a developer grant ranging from $10k - $100k.

Web2 Exec Joins Web3 Company As Chairman

At this point, it feels like beating a dead horse, but it’s still exciting to see web2 execs migrate to web3 despite the “bear” market.

So who’s joining this time?

Electronic Arts (EA) cofounder Jeff Burton.

What’s interesting is the company he’s joining, considering many think P2E is dead. And that company is P2Earn. Yeah, literally.

Jeff is joining as P2Earn’s Chairman of its board of advisors.

Why did Jeff join?

Jeff believes that players sharing a portion of the profits through gameplay is the future of gaming and the potential of the guild model, which is similar to esports organizations.

P2Earn aren’t stopping here as they look to add more gaming industry vets to their board.
