Original Stormtroopers NFTs coming to Apple and Google pay

TGIF morning to all of you out there! We brought some loot for you to open before your weekend. May the force be with you!

Supremacy Games and the Dark Side Of The Force

Supremacy Games (Helsinki-based game publisher), and Tyranno Studios (formerly WAX Studios and a Web3 game producer) announced that through a collaboration with MoonPay users will be able to use credit and debit cards to purchase the iconic "Original Stormtrooper" NFTs. This was crucial for the collection as the fan community is broad and many may be unfamiliar with traditional crypto NFT purchasing steps. MoonPay's single checkout feature makes buying the NFT more like a standard internet transaction.

What do we know?

  • Partnering with MoonPay to cater to the Fanbase's "non-crypto" audience certainly was a good move, simple solutions are often the best ones.

  • The mint was originally scheduled for October 27th, with Supremacy Games handling the launch of the collection but got temporarily delayed with Tyranno no longer involved.

  • The entire collection of 10,000 PFP NFTs contains officially licensed designs from Shepperton Design Studios.

  • US residents are uniquely not allowed to participate. (disappointing, but not surprising)

We wonder if the dark side of the force would feature in a blockchain game in the near future. You can learn more about the project here.

Vertu Debuts 41,000 Smartphone

Vertu drops a bomb on the mobile phone world unveiling "METAVERTU" the first luxury and truly Web3-enabled smartphone. Now before the price tag makes your jaw drop check out some of the swag features this flashy hardware delivers.

  • The METAVERTU has been designed to address the past security issues of crypto, particularly NFT theft. Solving these security issues, with a built-in blockchain chip based on SE+TEE architecture. This tiny computer meets the security requirements of top-tier international financial institutions, as well as offering other features like s anti-intrusion sensors and a restricted physical security boundary inside the phone.

  • With Eth's recent move to POS, you can operate a node on the "METAVERTU" handset.

  • The METAVERTU has a simple one-click toggle to go between Web2.0 and Web3.0 modes.

  • From hotels to gift cards, the rewards do not seem to end. The icing on the proverbial cake is that the METAVERTU concierge has a new NFT PASS membership, which offers not only Web3 courses but early access to "high-value whitelists".

What do we think?

First Solana, now Vertu. This drop signals the future of Web3 in your pocket (we said it here first, folks). We think this is a good idea. Why?

  • Our mobile phones are the glass screens we spend most of our time on 🙈.

  • It's easier than carrying a cold wallet around and more secure than a hot wallet.

  • Escaping the massive take rate of the big app stores (cough, Apple) would help a lot of projects get access to a captive audience without coughing up a 30% toll. This is the holy grail of gaming apps and apps in general.

The big challenge would be developing a good phone and getting the hardware into the hands of users.

While it's true that 41,000 dollar phones are obviously not targeted for mass, this thing works for those it's meant for, the "Crypto Elite". Not to mention they have a range of designs for a more economical price without some of the shinier all-gold elements. TBH I may get one of the basic models more economically priced around $6K.

The Sneaky News You May Have Missed

  • ConsenSys, (blockchain technology company) and Bankless DAO (decentralized community) announced plans to develop a partnership they have termed DAOlationship. This DAOlationship would allow ConsenSys employees to contribute to various DAOs in the areas where they need it most. This could become a bigger trend of DAOs working for DAOs. Game dev DAOs, game tester DAOs maybe...

That's it, folks! Enjoy your weekend and play a game or two.
