Google Intros WebGPU

If you watched this year’s Google IO event, you already know that AI took centre stage.

Even if you didn’t, it’s hard to miss on Twitter with thread boys propagating it all over. Sour much? Yeah, so pissed I don’t get to try any of it in Canada.

Anyhow, drowning in AI, Google introduced WebGPU.

What’s WebGPU? It’s the successor to WebGL, the API used in a lot of browser games. This API exposes the capabilities of GPU hardware for the web, allowing rendering and computation operations on a GPU similar to Direct3D, Metal and Vulkan.

Considering how many games in web3 are being built in the browser, this could become a big weapon in the arsenal to build more complex web3 browser games, maybe even AAA browser games. One can dream, right?

Let us know if you are excited about this once you check it out.

Ubisoft Drops Smart Collectibles

Ubisoft continues its attempts at bat to leverage web3 tech. Respect for not being fazed by failures.

This time they’ve got “Smart Collectibles” for the Assassin’s Creed franchise.

What we know

  • The Assassin’s Creed Smart Collectibles are NFTs paired with physical collectibles.

  • Each NFT is a “Digital Soul” that can be used to customize and redeem a physical collectible representing one of the heroes from the game.

  • Owners can choose between outfits, weapons and poses for the physical collectible. Once received, you can scan the NFC in the collectible to view a digital version on a companion app.

  • You can also access additional features and utility that are tied to the project.

  • The project is being worked on alongside Integral Reality Labs and will be minted on Polygon.

  • One more thing - Integral Reality Labs will release 1500 Pieces of Eden passes to provide access to exclusive drops and priority access to 3D printing.

TRU and MTV to Rock Decentraland

Party in the metaverse. Let’s goooo!

The Rocking Uniquehorns (TRU) and MTV are joining forces for Mental Health Action Day on May 18, bringing a mind-blowing 24-hour concert filled with an incredible lineup of bands, rappers, and DJs.

It's all happening at the TRU BandRoom Festival Stage in Decentraland's Genesis Plaza.

This virtual party is not just about the music; it's also a powerful platform to bring awareness to mental health action.

And considering lots of entrepreneurs deal with this, we are calling this a win.
