Gaming At ETH Denver 2023

This year, gaming made its presence known at ETH Denver, taking over the Metacade section.

And it got crowded with many people showing interest.

So who was there?

Game7 brought the heat with several of their incubated products and partners.

Summon: A tool that allows you to track, manage and reward contributors for both in-game and out-of-game actions.

Hyperplay: A launcher for web3 games and a game store aggregator. Think of it as the steam launcher for web3 games that allows you to play games on the Epic Store and other game marketplaces. 😎

Moonstream: A tool that enables game developers to build, manage and scale their game economy. In addition to showcasing their tool, they brought their fully on-chain game built in partnership with OP Games called Great Wrym.

Community Gaming: An Esports platform that offers tools to create, facilitate and participate in esports tournaments.

Some of the games showed off their wares too.

The Fabled: First, this game looks beautifuuul. It's an action RPG with inspirations from Skyrim, Elden Ring, and Dark Souls.

Worldwide Webb: A pixel art browser-based MMORPG that allows you to use your avatar or PFP to navigate a dystopian future where the real-world economy has moved to the blockchain. You may remember them for recently raising $10 million.

Axie Infinity: The OG of web3 gaming also came with their games, including Axie Infinity Raylights and Classic.

Tollan Worlds: A pixel art MMORPG that takes you on an adventure through the Mycelium Mines. You can already play the alpha version on their website.

And many more...

Is Account Abstraction The Key To Mass Adoption?

The Ethereum ecosystem has been buzzing about one of its key upgrades, ERC-4337.

What's ERC-4337

It's Account Abstraction without Ethereum protocol changes.

In simpler words - with account abstraction, Ethereum accounts are transformed into smart contract accounts, allowing users to have a more user-friendly crypto experience and enabling social recovery if users lose their keys.

Now Safe, the creator of the popular crypto wallet Gnosis, is dropping its own flavour of account abstraction (AA).What Is Safe(Core) Safe(Core) is a new modular AA stack partnered with Stripe, Gelato, and Web3Auth to offer developers direct access to a wide range of integrations for web3 apps.

What we know

  • AA unifies Contract Accounts and Externally Owned Accounts (EOAs) in blockchain systems, making user accounts more 'programmable'.

  • It removes the logic of signing transactions from the account, and 'abstracts' it out, hence the name Account Abstraction.

  • This unlocks much more flexibility in coding accounts, allowing for multi-sig, 2-factor authentication, withdrawal limits, and expiration on keys.

  • AA can help to scale the non-custodial blockchain UX, making it easier for users to manage their self-custody without relying on centralized custodians.

  • AA allows for the creation of keyless wallets and communal wallets where anyone can perform any action, if implemented safely.

  • In case of losing a private key, smart contracts can be programmed to implement specific logic, for example, allowing another key to take over if the original key does not interact with the contract for a certain period of time.

  • AA enables the easy creation of new wallets with only a single seed phrase, similar to the "Add Account" feature in Metamask.

Lootbringer's take

Any step towards ease of use for the mainstream user is a win.

So LFG.
