Sometimes it is vital to go back to basics when thinking of a concept. This is what @VaderResearch did, posing this question to the crypto Twitter community.

A simple, yet profound question.

So what did people say?

Looking at these replies, it would seem that there is no clear definition of what a web3 game is. In fact, @dantesismos is suggesting moving away from the term.

Lootbringer is taking the side of @dantesismos and @XpTheVerse on this one.

Throughout gaming's history, hardware led to a revolution by creating a new platform, while software created the evolution of gaming on these platforms. Web3 tech is creating an evolution in gaming.

Prediction: In 10 years, many games would use web3 tech to create features, including provable ownership and meta games, that generate more engaging gaming experiences. These games would get absorbed into the current genre categories. Fully on-chain games would become a new genre.

Meaning no web3 game category. Looking to be wrong on this one 🙈.

Google - 12,000. Meta - 11,000. Amazon - 10,000. Microsoft - 10,000.

These are the number of employees cut by big tech in recent times. Crypto has also had its share of cuts too (👀 Crypto.com).

But really, what do these companies have in common?

They all ballooned in size during the Covid season. Now they are shedding weight like they are preparing for a fight.

With these layoffs hitting the headlines consistently, you would think no one is hiring.

So how do you stand out and find meaningful work in web3?

Here are 4 things you should do

1/ Familiarize yourself with web3 technology

Web3 is the third evolution of the internet, bringing a value layer native to the internet. The best way to get started is to educate yourself on web3 concepts and technologies such as blockchain, cryptocurrency, and non-fungible tokens (NFTs). An excellent place to start is Crypto School.

2/ Build your online presence

In web3, your online presence is crucial.

Why?

We are still in the early innings of web3, so many teams are looking for passionate individuals, not mercenaries. Leverage your online presence (ahem, Twitter) to showcase your skills and passion for web3. This would help to expand your network and show what you are good at.

3/ Get involved in web3 projects 

Teams in web3 look for talent within their communities first since these people are already showing interest in the project. Jump into these web3 projects as a contributor or volunteer to help you gain hands-on experience and make valuable connections in the industry.

Consider open-source projects on platforms like GitHub, or join hackathons and coding competitions to showcase your skills.

Another option is to join a guild (DAO), like developer DAOs or marketing DAOs, that fits your current skill. You can start your search for DAOs at DaoCentral.

4/ Check job boards
