AMD Launches New Gaming Chip

AMD dropped a new chip as part of the Ryzen 7000 series, The 7800X3D.

And it has been fine-tuned for gaming performance.

What makes it special?

  • AMD maximized the cache rather than raw single-thread performance to deliver the best gaming experience. So it's great at gaming but not so much for other applications.

  • The 8-core Ryzen 7 7800X3D boasts a whopping 104MB of cache, with a big chunk coming from a 3D-stacked chiplet.

  • AMD's 7800X3D has stolen the gaming crown with its exotic 3D-stacked memory technology that maximizes cache to deliver unparalleled gaming performance.

  • According to Tom's Hardware, the chip crushed the more expensive i9-13900K and other higher-end 3D V-Cache chips.

  • It's priced at a sweet US$449.

Lootbringer's take

💻 For gamers focused solely on gaming performance, the 7800X3D is the obvious choice. Even Linus got pissed that AMD pushed out its most expensive, worse-performing chipset to consumers before releasing this one.

Web3 Culture Still Alive NFT NYC

NFT NYC wrapped up last week and it showed that the web3 culture is still thriving. Here is what stood out.

  • NFT Scavenger Hunt: NFT collector and influencer Gmoney and his web3 luxury brand 9dcc set up an NFT scavenger hunt across the city, with participants earning a POAP NFT for attending.

  • NFC-Chipped Jacket: Commercial artist Jeremy Booth partnered with Wrangler on a custom Western-themed jacket, which embedded an NFC chip that allowed anyone to scan it and earn a Concrete Cowboys "proof of friendship" POAP with his art on it.

  • Bitcoin NFT Happy Hour: Hosted by Trust Machines at PubKey, a Bitcoin-themed bar in Manhattan, this happy hour brought together influential figures in the crypto community to discuss the latest in Ordinal Inscriptions, digital items built on the Bitcoin blockchain.

  • Web3 Sci-Fi Series: The forthcoming dystopian sci-fi series "RZR," produced by Gala Film (a subsidiary of Gala Games), announced that Mena Suvari and Danny Trejo will join the cast in special guest roles. The show creator sold NFTs to spur engagement, and the plot involves crypto.
